The UK’s International Offer: Opportunities and Challenges for Realising the Development-Diplomacy Dividend

KCL-FCDO-YPFP Conference

21st April 2022 | The Clermont Hotel, Charing Cross | London

A one day long event hosted by King’s College London (KCL) and Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP), in partnership with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

Funded by Research England under the QR Strategic Priorities Fund, this conference presents a unique opportunity for early and mid-career professionals and researchers with an interest in foreign and development policy to discuss the opportunities and challenges arising from the UK’s merging of development and diplomacy, including exploring the range of stakeholders and their role in shaping the UK’s foreign and development agenda.

The conference aims to strengthen collaborations between institutions and individuals, encourage a fluid exchange of ideas and cross-sectoral expertise by opening a direct and sustainable channel of communication for cutting-edge evidence-based policymaking in a variety of disciplines impacting international development and diplomacy.

This conference will be an interactive three-part event comprised by a set of three workshops, lunch and drinks reception. A report with recommendations and guidelines on next steps will be produced and circulated to participants as well as academic and government organisations represented.

How to apply?

We are looking for 15 early- and mid-career researchers, 15 early-mid career FCDO professionals, and 15 young professionals from think tanks, private sector and other relevant institutions, representing different fields who want to discuss their work, actively participate in the workshops and express interest in setting up future collaborations.
