Join us for the next YPFP Brussels, in-person Security Talks in the OUIBar + KTCHN of the Radisson RED Hotel (Rue d'Idalie 35, 1050 Ixelles) in Brussels on the 12th of September from 18:45-21:00 CEST.
This in-person discussion will focus on looking at the future of a reinvigorated NATO Alliance after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the historic Madrid Summit that approved the new Strategic Concept. With the absence of clear military threats in Europe since the fall of the Soviet Union, NATO has struggled to reorient itself and provide meaning to the Alliance. Due to the military strength of the United States and its commitment to European security, NATO membership was also often seen by some European countries as a way to ensure their security while forgoing meaningful military spending. Now, for the first time in decades, NATO has rediscovered its raison d’être: preventing war in Europe.
Therefore, this discussion will look at what the different aspects of the future of NATO will be, what the outcomes of the Madrid can tell us, and how NATO can position itself not only as a European security provider, but also as a global security actor.
Discussants will have the opportunity to network, relax and enjoy a friendly conversation over drinks! We look forward to welcoming you!
