Asia-Pacific countries have been looking for new ground of support against the backdrop of shifting power balance in the region and perceived changing priorities by the US, which is their strategic partner.

From the other side of the globe, NATO has been developing institutional ties with Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. In 2022, the common challenges brought AP4 to the NATO Summit for the first time.

Can NATO contribute to regional stability, or is it too focused on deterring Russia? What can be the areas of cooperation for the Alliance with Asia-Pacific countries?

These questions and more will be discussed during this event with our speakers:

• James Bernardi, First Secretary Defence, Australian Mission to NATO and the EU

• Lt Col Aaron Thomas, Defense Policy Advisor, U.S. Mission to NATO

• Dr. Tongfi Kim, Programme Director of the BA in International Affairs of Brussels School of Governance

The event will be followed by a networking reception.

If you have any questions, please contact Smiljana Cujic, Security & Defence Officer, YPFP Brussels at smiljana.cujic@ypfp.org.

This event is supported by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Registration is required to attend the event. To enter the event, please register and show your ID card at the entrance. Participants will be able to access the venue from 18:45 CEST.
