Speaker: Carrie Goodge O’Brien, Minister, Congressional, Public, and Intergovernmental Affairs, Embassy of Canada

Carrie Goodge O’Brien is the Minister (Congressional, Public & Intergovernmental Affairs) at the Embassy of Canada in Washington D.C. 

Previously, Ms. Goodge O’Brien served at Global Affairs Canada as the Director General for Southeast Asia and Oceania (2023), Executive Director and Chief of Staff to the Deputy Minister of International Trade (2021-2023), the acting Minister-Counsellor (Economic and Trade Policy) and Counsellor (Trade Policy) at the Embassy of Canada in Washington D.C. (2015-2021), Senior Counsellor to the Executive Director for Canada on the Board of the Inter-American Development Bank (2011-2015), Deputy Director of the Government Procurement, Trade and Environment division (2009-2011), Deputy Director and Senior Trade Policy Officer of the Goods Market Access division (2007-2009), Senior Trade Policy Officer in the Trade Remedies division (2005-2007), Departmental Spokesperson (2004-2005), and Trade Commissioner for Arts and Cultural Industries (2002-2004).  

Ms. Goodge O’Brien holds has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Trade from the University of Waterloo, and a Masters of Arts in Globalization and International Development from the University of Ottawa.
