YPFP Brussels would like to invite you to a panel discussion on strategic initiatives for Ukraine’s future.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Europe and the United States have mobilised unprecedented military, humanitarian and financial assistance to Ukraine.

Support for Ukraine is focused not just on meeting immediate needs, but on the country’s long-term reconstruction and economic recovery. The European Union will provide €50 billion from the Ukraine Facility until 2027 to help the country rebuild and support long-term political reforms. The United States signed an agreement with Ukraine in April 2024 to establish the United States-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund, which will support the country’s reconstruction, foster collaboration and drive joint investment.

Much of the work of reconstruction will take place at subnational level, with Ukrainian cities, regions and businesses leveraging international support to rebuild and re-imagine their communities. In the spirit of the Marshall Plan, the power of the transatlantic relationship can be leveraged to deliver on an ambitious, smart agenda for reconstruction and recovery.

Accordingly, it is important to consider what young Ukrainian leaders see as priorities for delivering a peaceful and prosperous future for their country. The discussion will:

  • Help YPFP members understand the role of the United States and European Union in supporting Ukraine’s reconstruction and recovery;
  • Discuss the joint priorities of the US and EU as regards investment and economic recovery; and
  • Provide insights from young Ukrainian voices on reconstruction and recovery needs.

The discussion will benefit from insights from:

  • Lukas Mandl, MEP, President of the Assembly of European Regions (AER)
  • Joanna Pritchett, Economic Security Chief, Economic Section at US Mission to the EU
  • Sofiia Shevchuk, Founder of VONA

The discussion will be moderated by Justin Sammon, Deputy Programmes Coordinator at YPFP Brussels.

The event will end with a networking reception, including some snacks and drinks! In case of questions, please contact Justin Sammon, Deputy Programmes Coordinator.
