YPFP Ambassador Series
YPFP Brussels invites you to our upcoming conversation with Mr. Fabian Hunold, Second Deputy Head of the Mission of Switzerland to the EU.
In Europe, Swiss neutrality is distinctive. In times of geopolitical uncertainty, this role becomes particularly visible in contrast to Switzerland’s European neighbours and the European Union.
You will have the chance to learn more about the work of the Mission of Switzerland to the EU. This discussion will offer an introduction to Swiss neutrality, its opportunities, and its present and future challenges. We will discuss what neutrality means for Swiss-EU relations, how Switzerland establishes, maintains, and defends its neutrality, and how Swiss neutrality adapts to new political challenges.
Mr Fabian Hunold is a Swiss career diplomat and currently serves as Minister and Head of the Policy and Law Department, as well as Second Deputy Head of Mission, at the Mission of Switzerland to the European Union. In this role, he oversees matters relating to foreign and defence policy, and justice and home affairs. Previously, he served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Swiss Embassy in Tel Aviv. Earlier in his career, he served as a Military Staff Officer (Captain) in the UN stabilization mission in the DRC (MONUSCO). He has also worked for the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict in New York, as well as at the Swiss Embassy in Seoul.
The conversation will take place at the Mission of Switzerland to the EU, on Place du Luxembourg 1. For more details please contact Valerio Montanari, Policy & Diplomacy Director at YPFP Brussels.
