YPFP Brussels in partnership with Generation Equality would like to invite you to our latest Gender Initiative 2020 event titled : Has the UNSCR 1325 Improved the Lives of Women in Conflicts? The event will be held on Tuesday, 21 September 2020 at 18:30 – 20:30 (CET) on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Security Council resolution 1325 on women, peace and security (UNSCR 1325). The adoption of this resolution was instrumental to women’s human rights, underlining the impact of armed conflicts on women and girls whilst acknowledging the role of women in conflict prevention, resolution, and peace-building.

There has been progress within the 20 years since the UNSCR 1325 resolution has been made, however, further steps are still needed in order to ensure that women are included in formal peace processes and that women never have to suffer from violence in armed conflict situations.

So, please join us, along with our various expert panellists, to debate a wide range of topics including:

  1. How has the women, peace and security agenda been carried out in practice? How can we improve the implementation of the agenda to ensure that women in conflict settings are safe and secure?
  2. Is it possible for women to gain a higher degree of inclusion in all phases of the peace process?
  3. What are the conditions for more women-inclusive peace agreements and is a seat at the table enough?
