Join us on Tuesday 29 September at 19:00 CEST for a timely and interesting discussion on both challenges and opportunities that the enhanced opportunities partners bring to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The debate will involve a NATO official and two government representatives from the enhanced opportunities partners.

The Enhanced Opportunities Program (EOP) aims to deepen dialogue and practical cooperation between the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and its partners. It has been launched at the 2014 Wales Summit and it is based on specific criteria selection. Only six countries have been granted the status of enhanced opportunities partners so far: Finland, Sweden, Georgia, Jordan, Australia, and Ukraine.

The event will also address the following questions:

  • What are the concrete benefits of the EOP for both the concerned countries and NATO?
  • How is the EOP different from other NATO initiatives targeting its partners?
  • Is the program tailored to the partners’ needs and objectives?
  • How could the EOP be further strengthened?
  • What other countries might become enhanced opportunities partners in the future?

Speakers:

James Mackey, Director for Security Policy and Partnerships, Political Affairs and Security Policy Division, NATO HQ

Axel Wernhoff, Ambassador, Mission of Sweden to NATO

Georgiy Tolkachov, Charge d’Affaires, Mission of Ukraine to NATO.

Moderator:

Cristiana Lavinia Badulescu, PhD, Co-Managing Director, Young Professionals in Foreign Policy Brussels

The event will be livestreamed on our YouTube and Facebook channels for YPFP members and non-members.
