On 21 April at 18:30-20:00 CEST you are invited to the first event in the Let's Talk Race in the EU Initiative (#LTRinEU), “How can the EU become more diverse and inclusive?” where you will have the opportunity to engage with Member of the European Parliament and Co-President of the Anti-Racism and Diversity Intergroup (ARDI) Dr. Pierrette Herzberger-Fofana (Greens/EFA); Head of Diversity and Inclusion Office at the European Commission's Human Resources Ms Géraldine Dufort; Senior Advocacy Officer at the European Roma Grassroots Organisations (ERGO) Network Isabela Mihalache; Programme Manager for the African Caribbean and Pacific Young Professionals Network (ACP YPN) Adelaide Hirwe; and Alfiaz Vaiya, Co-Founder of Equinox Initiative for Racial Justice.

This event will discuss the EU institutions' efforts to create constructive, sustainable changes, focusing on the European Commission's EU Anti-Racism Action Plan, a multifaceted plan that seeks to tackle a wide array of issues concerning race and intersectionality in Europe. You will be able to take a closer look and evaluate how the EU and its strategies regarding diversity and inclusion.

Join us as we assess whether their plans will lead to continuous success or if their valiant efforts will miss the mark.

Speakers:

Dr. Pierrette Herzberger-Fofana, MEP for the Greens/EFA and Co-President of the Anti-Racism and Diversity Intergroup, the first woman of African descent to be elected to the European Parliament from Germany.

Adelaide Hirwe, African Caribbean and Pacific Young Professionals Network (ACP YPN) Programme Manager. Ms Hirwe is also the Secretary-General of the African Union Diaspora Youth Initiative.

Isabela Mihalache, Senior Advocacy Officer at the European Roma Grassroots Organisations (ERGO) Network, where she supports the development and implementation of progressive national Roma policies based on meaningful Roma participation and input.

Ms Géraldine Dufort, from April 2021 Head of Diversity and Inclusion Office at the  European Commission's Human ResourcesMs Dufort joined the European Commission in 1999 in the Human Resources Department in Brussels, later posted to 2 EU delegations and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Alfiaz Vaiya, Political and Strategic Advisor to Lord Simon Woolley (Crossbench) and previously the Coordinator of the European Parliament Anti-Racism and Diversity Intergroup (ARDI). Mr Vaiya is the Co-Founder of Equinox Initiative for Racial Justice.
