Artificial Intelligence is transforming all dimensions of warfare, including intelligence gathering and analysis, strategic and operational planning, procurement and logistics.

While we are probably far from witnessing a shift to fully automated warfare, the rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence have the potential to trigger a revolution in military affairs. The impact of the disruption cannot be underestimated and goes beyond the introduction and utilization of automated weapon systems (e.g. drones).

The overarching question we will address is how the Western militaries are preparing to leverage the innovation in information technology coming from the commercial sector. This not only concerns the technological dimension, but also the organizational and doctrinal changes required to maintain the competitive military advantage.

In this regards, part of the discussion will be dedicated to the priority of maintaining military superiority to face the challenge coming from emerging powers, like China and Russia. We will also debate the expectations regarding the first NATO A.I. Strategy, due to be released later this year.
