Join our first event of the YPFP’s NATO Series on Tuesday 14 September at 19:30 CEST.

The event will discuss in detail the importance and potential consequences of autonomous weapons systems and the ways that young people can engage with these new types of emerging disruptive technologies.

Autonomous Weapons Systems, machinery and matériel that are controlled by a computer run on Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, have lethal capabilities and bypass the need for human control. What was once the plot of science fiction films has become a reality, as technology has advanced to a level where weapon systems now can take action on their own.

The event is open to YPFP Members and Non-members and will be live-streamed.

Speakers:

- Michael Callender, Head of Aerospace Capabilities Section, NATO

- Ross McKenzie, Officer Unmanned Aircraft and Automated Systems, NATO

Moderator:

- Elisa Cherry, Director of Security & Defence, YPFP Brussels
